This speech is worth repeating.

As I said earlier, Jason Reynolds beautifully sums up everything I have tried to teach you this year.

"If you really want to change the world. Return to the chorus of your elementary school, but this time when you sing out This Land is Your Land  or This Little Light of Mine, spread your wings. Those broad wings you've been developing, the ones you've been fortunate enough to have been reminded of over and over again. Spread them as wide as possible and in every direction, and ask if anyone else could use a feather or two. Maybe then, maybe then, more of us might also have the moment to say 'We Made It'."

I wish you all the very best. I love you and I will miss you.

Thursday 24 June 2021

It was really nice to see some of your beautiful faces at last night's graduation drive- through. I look forward to seeing you again and handing you your diploma on Monday.

Some more graduation inspiration:

Monday 21 June 2021

Here is the convocation address that Jason Reynolds gave. As I said today, he pretty much sums up everything that I have hoped to teach you this year.

Reminder! Tomorrow is asynchronous!

Here is what you can work on:

  1. Many of you did not hand in your letter to my class next year. If you haven't yet - please do so today.

  3. Go outside and take a picture using the rule of thirds and add it to this slide deck/photo essay

Notes From Nature...

My first caterpillar of the year is still growing like crazy. I believe soon (today or tomorrow) they will go on walk-about and get ready to hang in "J" and move into chrysalis stage.
Last year, a couple of robins built a nest on our back porch light. We left it as it is such an amazing feat of engineering! Well, either the builders have returned, or new robins have moved in. Either way - there are four eggs! I love the excitement of spring!

Last Writing Assignment!

A Piece of Advice From Those Who Know...

Please write a letter to my class next year. Tell them what it is like to be in Mrs. Nye's homeroom. What advice do you have for them? What do they need to do to become successful in my class?

Moccasin Identifier

Today we wrapped up this project with leaving the moccasin print of the Huron-Wendat, Seneca, and Anishnaabe. The people who have shared this land with us. They have always been and continue to be present on this land as protectors and guardians. Many thanks.

I wish I could have painted with you guys - but we were (sort of ) together for this anyway. Thank you Masih for the picture! Thank you to Mrs. Snow for coming out and filming. Perhaps take time to walk on the trails with your family to see the moccasins for yourself.
